Roses

This was the result of a quiet moment I had with God out on my front porch in Nashville, TN. I had a 1 year old daughter at the time so the only quiet place I could find to get alone with God was the front porch.

I sat on the glider like I always do and the distractions began to flood my brain like they always do, but I sat in stillness and quiet and eventually the to do list in my head began to quiet down.

I was in that moment when I looked to my left and noticed the rose vine that had been there for 10 years but I had never noticed it in this way before.

I had the thought of how beautiful they are and no wonder we use them as a symbol of love.

Then I noticed the thorns down the vine and my imagination ran wild from there.

I saw how God actually used the beauty that He created to be the very thing that man would use to take His life. And he created all of this knowing that it would be used against His son.

“Planted the tree where He would die, put thorns down the vine and then He wore them.”

That’s where the idea came from and even though God gave me this song I don’t feel like I wrote it.

I feel like I received it as a gift from the Lord so I could share it and give people this perspective on the cross.

The most beautiful love story of all time. God bless yall!
