LO Worship is a collective of friends, crafting lyrics and melodies that echo the sound of revival in our generation, for our generation.
Have you ever had a moment in life where you sit back in gratitude about how far God has brought you? Like, How did I end up here?
I’ve had so many moments in my life that have caused me to reflect on God’s hand on my life. Even as I’m writing this, I am thinking of all the twists and turns that brought me to where I am today. Even now, I’m pondering what my life would look like without Jesus, and honestly, it’s very painful for me to imagine. Christ has set me free from depression, anxiety, insecurities, and so much more. I look at my life, and I just stand in awe of God. I would be a completely different person without His grace—without His love carrying me through every season.
There’s a line in “The Perfect Love of Jesus” that always stirs gratitude in my spirit: “Overwhelming grace covers all my days.” There’s something so reassuring about the grace of God covering all of our days.
When we wrote that line, we were reflecting on Psalm 23, which says:
“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
Psalm 23:6
How amazing that His goodness and unfailing love pursue us? Everyday, whether we realize it or not, we are actively being pursued by His love and goodness!
“The Perfect Love of Jesus” actually began as a simple conversation about the presence of God. We started talking about how it feels to be in His presence. We reminded each other that there is no striving in His presence, and how we can come exactly as we are. There’s so much peace when we stop and rest, knowing that we are fully loved by Him.
So many of us wrestle with the idea of earning God’s love and approval. It doesn’t matter how long you have been walking with Christ—we all need to be reminded of the simple truth that we don’t have to work to earn His love.
We just are loved because we are His.
Paul actually prays for the church in Ephesus to have the power to grasp the love of God:
“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”
Ephesians 3:18
The love of God is so deep, and Paul thought it was important enough to pray over the church there! It’s important for us to know the love of God. We pray that this song reminds you that His love chooses us, protects us, and covers us every single day. We cannot mess it up. If we could, it would mean our mistakes are more powerful than His love—and they never will be.
In fact, we almost didn’t include the line “I could never mess it up,” because it felt almost too bold. But the more we sat with it, the more we realized it perfectly captures the heart of the message—God’s grace is so overwhelming that we can’t break His plan or lose His love.
“For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.”
Romans 11:29
If you think you’ve messed up God’s plan for your life, remember this: you are not that powerful.
This song is a powerful reminder for me—and hopefully for you—that we are held, chosen, and loved beyond measure. It calls us back to a place of rest in His grace when life feels heavy or uncertain.
If you’re feeling weighed down today, remember this: you are covered. His grace is enough. Let that be the truth that carries you through.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for Your perfect love that covers me every day. When I feel unworthy or broken, remind me that Your grace is greater. Help me live in the freedom of Your forgiveness and reflect Your love to those around me. Amen.
